What are biofuels?

Biofuels are renewable liquid or gaseous fuels produced from plant and animal products, biomass. The most common biofuels today are: biodiesel produced from oilseeds such as rapeseed and sunflower, a substitute for diesel and bioethanol - made from sugar and starch containing plants such as beet or cereals, a substitute for petrol. These two types of liquid transport fuels have the potential to replace petroleum products used in transport.

Are safe for your engine?

Biofuels are fully compatible for blending with gasoline and diesel fuel, moreover, that the mixtures can be placed on the market from the existing gas stations.
Mixtures with 5% biofuel to be within the standards for petrol and diesel used by all vehicles as it is demonstrated that in no way damage the engines of cars.

Why useful?

The main advantages of biofuels are:
improve energy security: Biofuels could completely replace gasoline and diesel fuel, but do not affect the quality of fuel. This will help reduce dependence on imported oil, whose price is very unstable, since its stock began to be exhausted.
Improving the quality of motor fuels:
Bioethanol has a higher octane than petrol and in their mixing leads to increase octane number of the mixture. Biodisel because of its specificity, when mixed with diesel fuel can optimize its combustion to improve engine performance and increase its power.
Limiting climate change:
The use of biofuel leads to reduced carbon dioxide emissions and thus support efforts to limit climate change.

Did you know?

Biofuels exist since there are cars.
At the end of the 19th century, Rudolf Diesel invent the diesel engine based on rape oil, and the early diesel engines were powered by peanut oil. At the beginning of the 20th century, Henry Ford was a start of its models bioethanol.
Subsequently, the discovery of large oil deposits has kept petrol and diesel cheaper for many years, and biofuels have been forgotten. However, with recent increases in oil prices, and increasing concerns of global warming caused by carbon dioxide emissions, biofuels are beginning to return its popularity.
